Dark Elegance: A Modern Interior

As an ArchViz artist, I thrive on bringing designs to life, and my latest project was a particularly exciting challenge. I recently completed a visualization for a modern interior encompassing a living space, bedroom, bathroom, and closet, all unified by a striking black palette. The design beautifully incorporated the texture of fluted walls alongside the sleekness of black granite, creating a sophisticated and dramatic atmosphere. My goal was to capture the interplay of these elements, showcasing the depth and richness of the materials while maintaining a sense of contemporary elegance. This project was a fantastic opportunity to explore how light interacts with dark surfaces and the subtle nuances of texture.

The design's focus on black presented unique rendering challenges. Accurately portraying the depth and reflectivity of the black granite and ensuring the fluted walls retained their texture under such a dominant color scheme required careful attention to lighting and material properties. I meticulously adjusted the lighting to create a sense of drama and highlight the contrasting surfaces. The interplay of light and shadow became crucial in defining the space and preventing the all-black design from feeling flat. Particular focus was given to the bathroom, where the interplay of light on the black granite surfaces created a luxurious and spa-like feel.



To fully showcase this project, I created both a series of still images and a short video. The images allowed me to focus on specific details, like the veining in the granite and the texture of the fluted walls, while the video provides a more immersive experience, allowing viewers to virtually walk through the space and appreciate the flow of the design. The video, in particular, highlights how the light moves through the space, emphasizing the interplay of textures and the overall mood.
